Collection Spotlight: Happy Mother's Day!

Mother’s Day was signed into US law in 1914, but similar holidays are celebrated all over the world. MAACM honors this special day with a powerful image depicting a quiet moment between mother and child by Jessie Willcox Smith. Considered one of the greatest illustrators of the 20th century, Smith (1863-1935) completed over 450 works for various publications during her forty-year career. Focusing the majority of her work on children, Smith created portraits of them and illustrated children’s books. This artwork, along with others by her, is featured in MAACM's Children's Gallery.
