Spring Break at MAACM

School’s out, and MAACM has family-fun activities planned:

• Watch our Arts and Crafts films on the big screen in the MAACM Auditorium at 11 am and 1 pm
• 10:30 am to 12:30 pm - Art Making: Create your own fused glass pendant in the Education Studio
• All day - Gallery Scavenger Hunt: Challenge yourself with a self-guided quest through the MAACM galleries. Scavenger hunt guide available at the ticketing desk

Included with admission. Discount on selected children’s items in the museum store throughout the week.

MAACM Artisan Demo Series: The Art of Leaded Glass
Wednesday, April 8th, 2026, 1pm - 3pm

Step into the MAACM Glass Studio and experience the craft of leaded glass with third-generation glass artist Carlos Velasco. Visitors will watch traditional Arts and Crafts–era techniques demonstrated firsthand, including cutting, grinding, foiling, and soldering glass. Through this live demonstration, guests gain a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship behind this enduring art form. Included with admission.

MAACM Sunday Film Series presents: Pursuing Beauty: The Architecture of Bernard Maybeck
April 12, 2026, 2pm

This film celebrates the long and fruitful life of one of Americas greatest architects. Notable historians share their perspectives about Maybeck’s long and distinguished career, his most important projects, and an in-depth look into his reverence for nature, a commitment to community, and a deep and abiding love of beauty.

Jazz at MAACM: Groove Merchant
April 25, 2026, 7:30pm - 9:30pm

Come experience an unforgettable night of live music with the soul-jazz trio Groove Merchant. Led by Phil Magallanes (Al Di Meola, Arturo Sandoval, Blood, Sweat & Tears), and joined by Andrew Jankura and Eric Roberts—who bring over 20 years of global chemistry—this is groove at its finest.

Special guest: GRAMMY Award-winning saxophonist Kenny Anderson.

• Listen to engaging storytelling by our knowledgeable docents
• Smell different fragrances that will immerse you in the history, the work of the artisans, and the art itself by delicately sampling fragrance oils from aroma blotters
• Touch art objects and feel the handiwork created by skilled artisans

Studio Sips - Mother’s Day Special: Glazed Tile Painting

Celebrate Mom and bring the family to MAACM for a fun morning of painting beautiful ceramic tiles that mimic the definitive glazed and tube lining characteristics of art nouveau, while enjoying a crisp mimosa and great conversation! No kiln firing necessary. A docent-led tour of MAACM’s stunning tile gallery is included.

MAACM Speaker Series presents: American Stained Glass: The Art of Industry
May 16, 2026, 11am-1pm

Join Dr. Kayli R. Rideout, Hugh F. McKean Curator at the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum, for a compelling exploration of one of the most consequential turning points in American decorative arts. As the nineteenth century progressed, stained glass production shifted dramatically from the hands of individual craftsmen to the machinery of industrial manufacturing — and the debate that followed was anything but quiet. Discover how this transformation ignited urgent conversations about artistic integrity, creative authorship, and what it truly meant to make something by hand at a pivotal moment in American cultural history.
